Successful start for our new apprentices

We shape the future, we shape prospects
Young talents in the world champion team

Krefeld, September 1, 2021

It is always a challenge for Siempelkamp Giesserei to find suitable junior staff. Therefore, we are all the more pleased to welcome a total of eight new apprentices (4 foundry mechanics, 2 pattern makers, 2 industrial clerks) to the foundry in 2021. There have not been this many for a long time. Thus, Siempelkamp Giesserei is currently training a total of 15 junior employees. The training offensive “Welcome to the world champion team” is thus bearing fruit and arousing the interest of the next generation.

Involved with great interest right from the start

September 01st was a successful first day for the “foundry newcomers”. After a round of getting to know each other, the new apprentices were warmly welcomed by the management, the works council, and the personnel and training management. After the trainees had been provided with all important information about the company, training, and occupational safety and the personalized work clothes and protective equipment had been distributed, they continued with a tour of their new workplace. During the tour, the young team of trainees asked numerous questions about various work processes and thus showed great interest.

Perfect debut including successful casting premiere

Strengthened after a joint lunch, the trainees were then finally ready to get started and get to know the foundry world a little better. A pattern in the shape of a Siempelkamp logo, which was developed for learning purposes and produced on a 3D printer, ensured great participation. Everyone was allowed to participate and explore the most important production steps for creating a casting mould. No one was better able to explain how the whole thing works than the future foundry mechanics from Siempelkamp Giesserei.

Thus, the round of getting to know each other among the apprentices continued. The first own production of a casting mould started with a lot of commitment and joy. They moulded, cut, and polished for all they were worth. Some of them needed several attempts, but in the end everyone had a self-made, finished casting mould in front of them. Of course, the casting itself was not to be missed. The apprentices watched with sparkling eyes as the molten iron flowed into the small moulds and after a short time the still hot, steaming castings were unpacked from the moulds. The result is impressive.

Not bad for the first time, we say, and wish all the new team members a good start and much success! And that in a strong team, because the new trainees were quickly given a warm welcome, well received and integrated, even by the previous training cohorts.
